"Toile de Jouy" school pencil case

This pretty pencil case with 'Toile de Jouy' patterns will hold a schoolchild's pens and pencils. It is lined in plain cotton and has a zip opener with a small pendant. Two models are available:
- Country scenes in red printed on a yellow background
- Trianon: prints of pink flowers with a satin frill.
Machine washable at 30°.

Manufacturing Toile de Jouy is a long process. After the 'picking' process by men using flails, the cotton is bleached and dyed by women before being printed. The colours are then applied. The Musée du Toile de Jouy located in Jouy-en-Josas exhibits the wooden planks and copper rolls used in the 18th century.
