Marie-Antoinette bust candle
The most celebrated bust of Marie-Antoinette
Delicately scented, this magnificent natural wax bust (palm oil, rice, soya and copra) depicts the young queen Marie-Antoinette.
Founded in 1643, just before the reign of Louis XIV, the house of Trudon is the oldest wax manufacturer in the world. In 1719, it became the Royal Wax Manufactory and supplied wax candles to the Court of France from the age of Louis XIV to Napoleon I.
The collections of the Château de Versailles contain several busts of Marie-Antoinette (in marble or in plaster, moulds made from the original marble ones); the bust closest to the candle model is a plaster mould based on a bust by Simon Louis Boizot (1743 - 1809), 96 cm high.
