"Roses" line: pruning shears
Trim your plants with these pruning shears to make splendid plant sculptures like those of the formal French garden. The topiary art is practised on evergreen trees with small leaves such as laurel, cypress, yew and box.
You will find in the Boutique other gardening products decorated with the same rose pattern. André Le Nôtre, the garden designer of Louis XIV, revived the art of topiary that emerged in Italy during Antiquity. He designed the French formal gardens in the park of the Palace of Versailles. In the reign of Louis XVI, part of the gardens of Versailles were redesigned in order to transform the formal French gardens of Le Nôtre and Hardouin-Mansart into English landscape gardens, as in the Queen's Hamlet, designed for Marie-Antoinette. You can find her favourite flower, the rose, in numerous old varieties in the gardens of Trianon.
