Pair of "sanguine" cufflinks

'Versailles' elegance

These cufflinks are decorated with a sanguine sketch of a stylised and idealised flower bed. The pattern is taken from an album called "Décoration intérieure et jardins de Versailles", an early 18th-century collection of 58 red-chalk counter-proofs involving the decoration and furnishings of royal, princely or private residences.

The manuscript has been in the Château de Versailles' collections since 1934. These cufflinks, 19mm in diameter, have a clasp. They are sold as a pair in a black box lined with beige felt. This pair is one of a limited series of three cufflinks designed exclusively for the Palace of Versailles. You will find the other two of the limited series in the on-line Boutique.
