Flower hairpin

This delicate hairpin made from bronzed metal is decorated with red Swarovski crystals. A fine chain surmounted with glass beads, twisted leaves and roses forms the other part of this hairpin. Hand-made with the greatest care, each piece is unique! Numerous portraits in the collections of the Palace of Versailles show hair ornaments combining flowers and beads. One of the most typical examples is the one painted by Jean-Marc Nattier in 1748 which depicts Louise de France whose hair is subtly embellished by roses and beads.
